As the year draws to a close, I find myself thinking about those of you who visit me here on the blog and how your warm comments and thoughtful conversations have kept me encouraged to stay the course on this platform. Over the last few years we’ve seen an influx of social media use and I often wondered if blogging would soon be irrelevant or obsolete. But there was always this small inner voice reminding me how I felt more of a connection with my blog readers through our shared interests and slower pace.

I’ve gathered a collection of thoughtful gift pairing ideas; when you need a little something ‘extra’ for that special someone.

For years I’ve been making these tumbled, hand dyed gift tags and since I was running low on my supply, I thought I’d whip up a new batch and show you just how easy they are - and the surprisingly simple step that gives them their trademark worn textured look.

This season I was inspired to try a unique spin on traditional holiday gift wrapping by using warm muted tones and colors that could easily transition to other gifting needs throughout the year. Let’s get started!

Autumn is officially here! I don’t know about you, but here in southern California, we don’t see a lot of color change in the trees, so I’m making up for my lack of fall foliage with this autumnal inspired roundup. I discovered this image on Pinterest and was immediately drawn to the shades of steely gray and rusty terra cotta combined with all of the cozy textures. I also love that the styling feels casual and a little bit messy or “unfinished.” It feels authentic. I did some internet snooping and found some amazing pieces that recreate the warm seasonal look. Let’s get cozy!

I’ve been having a love affair with handmade ceramics for years now, and the work of one particular artist has captured my heart - that of French potter, Thierry Doublet. He has been crafting beautiful objects since the 1970s in an unassuming workshop situated in the middle of nowhere, France. How I was first introduced to his work was by way of a casual alfresco dinner on the stone terrace of a centuries old chateau. The owner of the chateau, a marvelous chef, and his lovely wife, served glasses of chilled rosé and the most delicious piment d'espelette shrimp presented in one of Thierry’s large handmade shallow bowls. Sounds dreamy, I know. And it was. Almost immediately, I became obsessed with learning about the ceramicist that created the gorgeous bowl - and how I could add his pieces to my own collection. The very next morning I found myself driving the backroads of the French countryside, making my way to his studio. In the years since I first discovered his work, I have returned again and again each time I visit France.
